Why is Copywriting the most ignored skill?

When I got the job as a copywriter in a Digital Marketing Firm, I told my friends that I got the job as a copywriter and you know what? Almost all of them thought that I became a copyrighter.

They thought maybe it’s someone who copyrights stuff. And I was so so baffled as to why is this industry so underrated?

And you know what I discovered was pretty amazing. There was actually no need for a real copywriter until now.

You might have heard of legendary copywriters names like Gary Halbert, Eugene Schwartz, and David Ogilvy. You might argue that they were the greatest copywriters of their time. So, How can you say that there was no need for a copywriter?

Well, There was a need for copywriters but it wasn’t a necessity. Let me explain, The job of a copywriter is to write copy such that it leads to sales, and back then one only needed to sell physical products whose cost of production was large.

But now, most of the products on the internet are knowledge-based products aka they sell knowledge with zero cost of replication. They need to shoot for the courses only once and can sell them to as many as people they want to. There is nothing limiting them from making more sales.

And that’s why today’s marketers focus more on sales than on production, management, etc. Because they know that sales are the only thing that will bring them money.

And thus the need for a copywriter skyrocketed. If you are someone for whom. Copywriting is a new term. Then believe me you’re in for a ride. In the next 5 years, this industry is going to boom.

But as of right now. A good copywriter is a rare commodity. Thus the demand for copywriters is more than the supply. And if you can learn this skill well and better than anyone. Then, you can also profit from this boom.

And I have written a few articles on how to learn copywriting and you can go through them and learn all of them if you want to.
