The Real Reason Behind Procrastination
Okay! I know you have read a lot of articles about Procrastination and felt really awesome because now you know how to solve this puzzle of Constant Procrastination.
But alas you failed every fucking time. Just like me. Believe me, I’ve been there. I’ve read 100 if not 200 articles about How To Beat Procrastination and alas I’m still a Procrastinator.
So, How am I even eligible to give you advice regarding Procrastination when I suffered from that myself? Well, That is because I have found the real reason behind procrastination.
And it’s not laziness or poor time management skills. It’s something else. So, let’s talk about it.
The Real Enemy Is….
We tend to think that Procrastination is a problem. But it isn’t. It’s merely a symptom of Poor Mental Health. Anyone with poor mental health is supposed to Procrastinate. Not feel like doing any activity.
And you don’t need to have huge Mental Health issues to experience symptoms like Laziness, Procrastination, Lethargy, etc. Even mild Mental Health conditions will harm your ability to take action.
So, Now that we know the enemy. How do we fight it?
It might sound simple but isn’t. The answers are:
- Consistent Meditation Practice
- And Gratitude Journaling
Now, It seems simple in the hindsight but most people fail to do these two activities regularly and that’s because of two reasons:
- Since They don’t take large amounts of our time and are completed in 10–15 minutes. Our brain thinks that they are simplistic activities and it shouldn’t do them to save energy.
- No Results. Contrary to Weight Lifting. When you exercise for a few months consistently you could see some gains in yourself and these visible results push you to take more action. But in the case of Meditation and Journaling, You don’t see any visible results. You can only feel them but that too after 6 months of consistent practice.
So, Now that you know that you Procrastinate because of Poor Mental Health and to improve your Mental Health you need to take action but most like you’ll Procrastinate on that too.
The only solution to this dilemma is doing the hard work especially when you don’t feel like it. If you just forget about your emotions and just do the two activities we mentioned above for 6 months straight. You’d have better mental health than you ever had in your life.
But alas not many people will take action even after reading this article. But I guess if you’re reading it and maybe one of you takes action and improves their Mental Health by themselves. Then I’ll be proud of you and I’ll be happy that I helped at least one person in my lifetime.
