You promise yourself you’ll do every good habit from tomorrow and day after day you keep repeating that promise to yourself.

But you don’t change. It’s not like you don’t want to. But there’s something inside you that’s stopping you from changing.

If you’re familiar with this feeling. My friend. You have been in a rut. A rut is a place where you know what you should be doing. But you don’t do it.

The biggest reason for that? You have poor mental health. So, If you improve your mental health. Everything will become easy for you.

But to even improve your mental health you need to do certain activities like:

  • Exercise
  • Meditation and
  • Gratitude Journaling

So, Here’s the catch. You can’t do things because you have poor mental health and you have poor mental health because you don’t do things.

And this is where Mark Manson comes to the rescue with his “Do Something Principle.”

Mark Manson says when you can’t do anything. Ignore your emotion and do something. Anything. And use the power of momentum to do the things you need to do.

For example, If you just put on your shoes and go to the gym. Even without the intention of working out. You’ll end up doing a workout. The reason?

Starting an engine is hard. You require balance. Need to learn about clutch, brake and gears. But once you learn them. Moving forward is easy. Because the momentum of the speed will take you forward.

So, Ignore your emotions and do something. Anything. And use the power of momentum to do the things you need to do.

You need to do the bare minimum before you can do the volume that moves the lever and actually changes your life.
