How To Find Books To Read?
I guess if you are a reader. A big disappointment for you is that book recommendation pages and book recommendation posts all post the same few books over and over again. And in the time, when you actually want to read something new and looking a book to answer a specific question. You struggle to do so.
In this article, I will teach you how to do book hunting and actually find the books that will help you.
1. Bookstagram
People on Instagram who post about books are called as Bookstagramers and the community of Bookstagramers is called as Bookstagram. If you don’t know about me. Then I’m also a bookstagramer with a following of 100k.
Bookstagram is a great place to look for new reads because most of the posts by bookstagramers are single posts sharing reviews and a few insights from a book.
There are a thousands of downside to it. But most of the times, it will give you amazing and unique recommendations, that you will love reading.
When I wasn’t a bookstagramer, I used to note down the names of the books, i used to find interesting on Bookstagram and read them later.
2. Visit a Bookstore
If you have a bookstore in your city. Go there and you’d be surprised to find a lot of new books there. Even I, who considers himself an avid reader and has read over 200+ books always find something new to read everytime, I go to a bookstore.
And believe me, Most people order from Amazon or Flipkart. And miss the chance of networking and talking with fellow book readers. When you go to a bookstore you also get access to a lot of fellow readers who’d be into the same books as you and will love to be friends with another book nerd like you.
3. DM a BookTuber or Bookstagrammer
Bookstagrammers and BookTubers who have read 100s of books are at your service. 9 out of 10 bookstagrammers will love to answer your queries about a problem you’re facing and recommend you a specific book that you will find useful.
Most people hesitate to send DMs to people having massive following, thinking that maybe they are busy and won’t even respond back to them. But it’s quite the contrary. Most of the times, the accounts with large following would often text you back with a banger book recommendation that will actually help you.
4. Goodreads
Goodreads is like the Netflix of Books. Just like while browsing Netflix, sometimes you come across a banger series once in a while. You can also get a banger book while browsing through Goodreads.
The best thing about Goodreads algorithm is that it keeps on understanding you by the books you add to your bookshelf and recommends you more of it.
And surprisingly it’s recommendations are actually pretty good. So, If you never tried finding books on Goodreads. Go and Try it once.
5. Search for a Specific Problem
You might have heard of a really unique search engine called as Google. If you search for books on a specific problem you’ll get a large list of books that will actually be useful to you.
For example, You realize that you’re using Social Media a lot and you want to get rid of this addiction. So, If you search for “Best Books on Social Media Addiciton”. You’ll actually find a ton of Book Recommendations which are really good and will help you a lot.
