I have been an ardent reader for the past 3 years and I have read some really amazing books that I see no one suggesting. So, here is a list of books that are not mainstream but would be extremely useful to everyone.
1. Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill
If you think you have heard the name of the author somewhere, then you’re right. He’s the author of the most famous self-help book ever written, Think and Grow Rich. Although, I’m not a big fan of that book. I absolutely loved this book. The reason is simple: It is a conversation between Mr. Earthbound and The Devil himself. And through this conversation, the author tries to uncover the secrets of success by defeating one of the greatest obstacles we will ever face in our life, We ourselves. If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend you try this book out. I believe it won’t disappoint you.
2. The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk
If you ever felt like you have mental health issues or just feel like you weren’t treated right when you were kids. Then this book is for you. This book talks about trauma. Which I guess not many books or people talk about. And this will not only tell you why you might have trauma from childhood but will also give you the tips and tools to help you heal yourself. So, If you ever thought of going to a therapist. Then give this book a try first because this book was life-changing for me.
3. The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest
Do you know who is your biggest enemy? Do you know what’s the biggest obstacle in front of you?
YOU.
The biggest Mountain in your life is YOU. And your self-sabotaging behaviors. But, You weren’t born trying to self-sabotage you. You learned doing it. And this book will take you on a journey on learning why we indulge in self-sabotaging behaviors and what can we do about it.
4. How To Live by Derek Sivers
If you ever thought one piece of advice is good and the other is bad. Then this book is gonna blow your mind. Because Each chapter of this book is a contradiction of the other.
In one chapter, Derek tells us to commit to everything, and in another, he advises us to never commit. In one chapter, Derek advises to stay in the present and never think about the future or past, and in another, he advises to focus on the future.
This book is full of contradictions and is gonna mess with your mind. But, I have learned a very crucial lesson from this book And that is, No advice is good or bad. All advice is correct in themselves because they are for different people. The advice that you accept depends on the kind of person you are, the kind of values you have, and the kind of state you’re in.
5. Hard Times Create Strong Men by Stefan Aarnio
Hard Times Create Strong Men
Strong Men Create Good Times
Good Times Create Weak Men
Weak Men Create Hard times
This cycle has been proven to be true throughout history. It is always seen that whenever there are good times, men become weak. And right now we are in the good times of human history. And we have become weak. Look around you, just how many people do you think, hit the gym, meditate and engage in positive thinking. We are all surrounded by people who blame, who act as victims of conditions. And that’s why reading this book is very necessary.
But, I’ll warn you this is a very big book and would take you a lot of time to completely understand and comprehend what the author is saying. So, Just be patient and know that this book will take some time to finish.
